Italy at last

The small compartment was reasonably comfortable and we could take some time to check our travel plans. The original plans had demanded a rather stressful riding effort from all of us (200 km per day, every day and no possibility of stopping or taking a day off) so we did a rather drastic replan using maps, mapping computers, enthusiasm and the restaurant car. The current plan will take us more or less directly north through Italy, through Austria towards Munchen and it will give us a more relaxed riding experience plus give us to chance to take in the local scenery more.
We had a rather plain dinner at a sky high price and when we went back to the compartment, we got help to transform it to a sleeping facility, not unlike a capsule hotel with bunks stacked on top of each other. I volunteered for the top bunk and found out that it had a much shorter mattress than the others. Sleeping was rough but we awoke reasonably refreshed non the less to a continental breakfast, German style.
All of a sudden we were at the station and before you could even say 'spark plugs and cam shaft', we were off the train and on to the streets of Livorno. Riding was rough on uneven streets and various of scooters swarmed all around us. We eventually found a camp and I did some, slightly over due, service on the bikes while Miles and Lars-Inge went out shopping. Miles outdid himself again with Italian smoked ham, melon, olives, Gorgonzola, an assortment of mixed seafood and Gnocci,. To this, some red Italian wine. Are you drooling yet, dear reader? After dinner we went down to the beach and had a nice dip in the Meditarrenian sea.
The camp is basically a family affair. Quiet, clean and nice. But when we came it was Saturday night and they had LOUD entertainment going on all night so sleeping was not THAT easy.
Tomorrow we will go up towards La Spezia and see where the road takes us.

I do hope it was the kind of gorgonzola that's sweet, and practically liquid in the middle...
oops, this drooling has to stop.
