Preparartions at full swing.

First entry, the 6:th of July 2007.
Lars at the log. I can not believe that we are almost on our way!

In any event, let me introduce the team, the rides, the plans and the current problems.

The team: Lars (mechanic), Lars-Inge (scout and path finder) and Miles (cook, although he does not know this yet since he does arrive until the next few days).

The bikes: Vintage Danish longitudinal four cylinder Nimbus motorcycles. One pre war side car outfit (Nimmer), one war time solo (Nimrod) and one post war solo (Nimbelle).

The tour: Through Denmark to Hamburg per bike. From Hamburg to Livorno in Italy per train. From Italy up through France, Les Alpes and into Germany per bike. Onwards to Berlin per train. From Berlin to Sassnitz per bike, Sazznitz to Bornholm (Danish island) on a ferry to a Nimbus gathering. Then ferry and bike back Sweden again.

Preparations: MAN! There is a lot to think about! Bikes to look after and stuff to pack. What spares should we bring? What could be safely left at home? And so on and so forth..

The problems: Well, right now Nimrod is partly dissasembled since it has a leaky cylinder head and the front fork squirts oil all over the place at the slightest bump.

Nimmer has new fittings for the freight side car and they are not adjusted properly yet so you have to stear to the right when riding. It is hard work and strains the living daylight out of your body.

Nimbelle is fine though, which is good and tells something about Miles, who likes to prepare well in advance. =)

Tomorrow will be another day of tinkering and hopefully some road tests to sort out Nimmers side car adjustments.
